Join us on a 12 Day Cultural Heritage Excursion To the Motherland Three Country Tour GHANA-TOGO-BENIN (West Africa)

Your destiny with Africa begins today as you board your transatlantic flight headed for the “exotic continent. Depart New York (JFK) airport on Delta Airlines, flight DL – 026 departing at 10:18pm. NOTE: Check-In begins 5 hours before departure and closes 2 hours before take off. Because of the emergency security measures instituted lately all International Check-in requires you to arrive at least 3 hours before flight departure to ensure enough time for your personal check-in, luggage processing, immigration and security clearances.

You are allowed to check-in 2 pieces of luggage free, each weighing 50lbs or less, and 1 carry-on weighing 12Ibs or less. Please remember your passports, and any visas required. We provide free visa service, however visa fees charged by the Embassies must accompany visa applications plus required recent passport photos and a valid passport. Yellow fever vaccination is required to enter most African Countries; please consult your physician. NOTE: FARES AVAILABLE FROM ALL MAJOR US CITIES.

Orientation, Welcome reception and African Cultural Show. Arrive in Accra. After clearing customs and immigration, we transfer to the hotel and check into your rooms. Participate in evening activities including, Orientation, Welcome Dinner, Fashion Show and African Cultural Performance. Overnight. We’ll visit Kumasi the next day.  Accommodation: Coconut Grove Regency Hotel or Similar Meals: Dinner.

Visit The Ashanti Kings’ Palace and the Cultural Center. Breakfast and depart for Kumasi, Capital of the legendary Ashanti Nation and the Cultural heart of Ghana. Arrive in Kumasi and check into our hotel. Afternoon tour includes, The Prempeh II Museum, Cultural Center, Manhyia palace, home of the Asantehene (King of the Ashantis). Return to your hotel. Dinner. Overnight. Accommodation: Miklin Hotel or Similar Meals: Breakfast/Dinner.

Craft Shopping Tour and experience wood-carving and Kente Weaving. Breakfast at leisure. We’ll spend in the Ashanti craft villages of Ahwiaa, Ntonso & Bonwire to shop for Kente Clothes, Adinkra Clothes and wood-carvings. You’ll have the trill of observing the artisans creating their products. Return to the hotel early evening. Dinner. Prepare for next day trip to the historical central region. Overnight. Visit the African Diaspora Ancestral Shrine and the River of Last Bath. Early breakfast and depart for Cape Coast/Elmina. On our way, we shall visit the African Diaspora Ancestral Shrine and the River of Last Bath. This shrine is located exactly where the slaves, being sent to the new world took their last bath before being sent to the holding Dungeons in the Elmina & cape Coast Castles. Arrive in Cape Coast early evening and check into our beach front hotel. Dinner. Overnight. Accommodation: Elmina Beach Resort/Similar Meals: Breakfast/Dinner.

Spiritual Connection to our Ancestors and Adventure tour in the Rain Forest. Breakfast at leisure. Late morning departure for a tour of Elmina Slave Castle (Ghana’s oldest Slave Castle). Be part of an emotional tour of the slave dungeons and pass through the “door of No Return”. The experience would send chills down your spine and leave an indelible mark on your conscience. We’ll then transfer to the the famous Kakum National Rainforest Park to explore the park and take an adventurous walk over the rainforest canopy. Return to the hotel. Dinner. Prepare for the next day trip to Lome Togo. Overnight. Accommodation: Elmina Beach Resort/Similar Meals: Breakfast/Dinner.

Depart after breakfast through the ever changing vegetation of the Volta Region to Lome, Capital City of Togo. Arrive in Lome late morning and check-into our beach front hotel. Afternoon city tour of Lome. Visit the “Village Artisana” (craft center) to learn about the process of making ceramic, batic, macrame, wood-carving etc. We continue our tour of the “Grande Marche” (open air market), the Fetish Market, to get acquainted with the different materials and the religious observances of the majority of Togolese. We end our tour with a visit to the Fishing Harbor. Dinner will be at a pre-selected restaurant in the city. Return to the hotel. Overnight Accommodation: Hotel Sarakawa or similar Meals:Breakfast /Dinner.

Travel to the land of many African Religions. Early breakfast. Check-out and depart to complete the Lome city tour with a visit to the Togo National Museum, and the Independence Square. Continue on a late morning 2 hour journey to Cotonou, capital of Benin Republic. After clearing customs and immigration, we proceed to the Novotel Hotel and check-in. Early evening guided tour of Cotonou city. We’ll have dinner at a pre selected restaurant in the city. Return to the hotel. Overnight Accommodation: Ibis Hotel or similar Meals:Breakfast /Dinner.

 (Visit Ganvie, the “Village on Water” & Retrace the Journey of the Slaves in Quidah) We depart after breakfast for trip to Ganvie, a whole township built on the river. We shall spend the afternoon learning about the history of these people whose very existence and security depends on the water and participate in their native cultural drumming and dances. We continue to Quidah, a major slave shipment point in West Africa. Enjoy a guided tour of the Sacred Forest of Kpasse, and the historic museum located in a Portugese Fort built in 1721. We shall then travel and retrace “the road of slaves” and pass through the ocean front “Door of no return” (the final passage to the slave ships. We return to Cotonou and have dinner at a restaurant in town. Prepare for the next day trip back to Ghana. Overnight. Accommodation: Ibis Hotel or similar Meals:Breakfast /Dinner.

Early breakfast & depart for Accra. Arrive late afternoon and check into your hotel. Dinner. Prepare for the next day trip back to the USA. Overnight. Accommodation: La Palm Royal Beach Hotel/Similar Meals: Dinner.

Accra City Tour, Farewell Dinner & Journey back to the States. Breakfast at leisure. Late morning check-out of the hotel. Afternoon Accra City tour including visits to the University of Ghana, Legon, the WEB DuBois center for Pan Africanism, the Kwame Nkrumah Mausoleum (a memorial park dedicated to the memory of the first President of Ghana). We’ll finish our tour with a visit to the Arts Center market for last minute shopping. Farewell dinner at a pre-selected restaurant in the city. Transfer to the airport at 7:00pm. Delta Airlines flight DL-027 departs Accra at 10:10pm. Accommodation: None Meals: Breakfast.
